Alexa can now give Amazon Echo users the morning headlines from the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Users of the Amazon smart speaker device can ask Alexa, the device’s virtual assistant, to enable the RTD so the newspaper’s top headlines in their flash briefings from Alexa.

The updated Alexa app is being made available to users through a partnership with Pearson Mazda, a Richmond car dealership.

“The Times-Dispatch is embracing this smart home technology as part of our continuing efforts to reach new audiences for our journalism via technology and innovation,” the newspaper said in its announcement.

The RTD headlines are updated every morning at 6 a.m. and include an editor’s selection of important headlines for Richmond and the surrounding region.

The RTD is part of BH Media’s Richmond Group, which also includes The Mechanicsville Local, the Hanover Local, The Goochland Gazette, Powhatan Today, Chesterfield RTD, Henrico RTD, Cumberland Today and The King William Local.
